First, we look at the top 3 websites in your industry. If we want your site to be where theirs is, we'll have to analyze how they got there?

Second, we research all of the "common" keywords being used by your industry, and see if there are not better ones no one else has thought of, but that searchers are using. Let's not forget that keywords are only as valuable as the searcher who is trying to find your site, or product.

The title tag is the highest ranking spot. The description tag is mainly for just that:
